ERM documents to be held back

The most controvertial Freedom of Information Act request so far has taken a new twist this morning, when the BBC’s Today programme revealed documents suggesting that the Treasury intends to “hold back” potentially embarassing documents requested by the Financial Times.

The documents in question relate to Britain’s withdrawl from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism in 1992.

    I tend to think these papers should be made available, the repercussion affected many people and the whole Euro project was put back several years.
