The Scottish Information Commissioner, has requested a 19 percent increase for his office’s budget for next year, citing a “larger than expected” volume of requests under Scotland’s Freedom of Information Act.

Kevin Dunion has requested a budget of £1,337,000, up from £1,125,000 this year.

Whether he gets it remains to be seen — the Scotsman reports that the Scottish Parliament’s finance committee is concerend about the spiraling costs of the various independent ombudsmen that enforce some of its laws.
